Teaching the dance, culture and language of Hawai'i
Halau Hula (Hula School) in Central
Arizona
Halau Hula Napuaokalei'ilima provides
Hawaiian hula dance instruction, along
with Hawaiian language, culture and
values classes, in the cities of
Cottonwood, Flagstaff and Prescott
Valley. New students--men, women,
children and senior citizens--are
welcome to enroll. See our Class
Schedules page, or contact Kumu Hula
Kehau Chrisman to find out the best
time to start your first class.
Hula Performances
The Halau (school) is available for show
performances, both private and public,
in the Verde Valley and Flagstaff. Our
dance presentations reflect the
integration of hula, language, and the
spiritualness of Hawai'i. Many
audiences walk away with a greater
understanding of Hawaiian culture.
"Hula is the art of Hawaiian dance, expressing all we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and feel." ---Aunti Maiki Aiu Lake (1925-1984)

Arizona Aloha Festival 2008,
Phoenix-- "'Ike i ke one kani a'o
Nohili". All dancers made their own
bamboo stamp ('ohe kapala kapa) with
their own design, and stamped the
fabric for their pa'u (skirt), just as
women would have done in Ancient
Hawaii.
